The NSW RNA Production Research Network (NSW-RPRN) was formed in 2021 to establish an RNA-based therapeutics industry in NSW with required materials, services and support to translate newly developed RNA therapeutics from the bench to advanced pre-clinical studies.
The NSW-RPRN enhanced the growth of the expert workforce required for the advanced biomanufacturing industry, and engaged with the broader research community, focussing on those involved in research related to key areas for RNA therapeutics such as vaccines, gene therapies and cancer.
With $4.9 million in funding and support from NSW Health, the NSW-RPRN brought together major universities and research institutions across NSW and the ACT.
In 2025, the Office for the Chief Scientist and Engineer strengthened the State’s healthcare and biotechnology capabilities with the launch of the $17.6 million NSW RNA Research and Training Network (NSW-RRTN), and the $6 million RNA Pipeline Grants Program.
The NSW-RRTN builds on the success of the NSW RNA Production and Research Network.
