NSW Health Research and Innovation Strategy

Driving world-class research and innovation to improve health outcomes for all people in NSW

Health and medical research is vital to delivering better treatments and interventions to improve health outcomes.

In May 2025, NSW Health launched the NSW Health Research and Innovation Strategy 2025–2030. Led by the NSW Ministry of Health’s Clinical Innovation and Research Division, the Strategy defines a 10-year vision and sets the strategic direction for advancing research and innovation to improve health outcomes across the state for the next 5 years.

The Strategy strengthens collaboration across government, health, academic, and industry sectors, and aligns with broader NSW Health and Government priorities. Developed with input from more than 400 stakeholders, it provides a roadmap for delivering economic, social, and environmental impact. Action planning is now underway to support implementation across the NSW Health system.

Our vision

A vibrant research and innovation ecosystem that improves the experience of delivering and receiving care; system efficiency and sustainability; and equity in access and health outcomes.
