Targeted Calls for Research

The Targeted Calls for Research funding stream supports research projects across the research spectrum that respond to needs of the NSW health system and consumers, to address pressing health challenges and maximise potential for impact. Targeted calls aim to accelerate research that addresses disparity and unmet need, promoting equity and inclusion in focus populations.

Focus populations include:

  • women and people with diverse genders and sexual orientations
  • Aboriginal people and communities
  • rural, regional and remote communities, and
  • people with rare diseases.

Other populations that have a disproportionate gap in health outcomes and participation in research and innovation will also be targeted through the stream and include:

  • culturally and linguistically diverse communities
  • people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds
  • older people, and
  • people with a mental health condition.

Strategic Investment is a key outcome of the NSW Health Research and Innovation Strategy 2025-2030.
