The NSW Cardiovascular Collaborative Grants support multidisciplinary collaborations led by researchers based in NSW to strengthen cardiovascular research across the state.
Since their launch, these Collaborative Grants have enabled numerous partnerships between NSW institutions and others nationally and internationally, fostering innovative cardiovascular research efforts spanning basic science to clinical and population health studies.
The Collaborative Grants aim to:
- fund research that improves wellbeing and health outcomes
- encourage collaboration, leadership, and capability building in the NSW research environment
- support the development of multidisciplinary NSW-led collaborations to leverage national funding opportunities to further research and its translation in NSW
- foster research excellence and increase the number of outstanding cardiovascular researchers in NSW
- embed high-quality, innovative cardiovascular research in the NSW health system
- bridge the gap between research, policy, and practice to increase and document research impact and translation.
Cardiovascular Research Capacity Program
The Cardiovascular Collaborative Grants are part of the Cardiovascular Research Capacity Program. In June 2018, the NSW Government announced a $150 million investment over 10 years into cardiovascular research to rapidly convert breakthroughs into better treatments for patients with heart disease.
NSW’s Cardiovascular Research Capacity Program funds high quality cardiovascular research in NSW in order to drive scientific discoveries, support the development of novel and innovative therapies, and improve health outcomes for patients with cardiovascular disease.
The Program aims to attract leading researchers, advance fundamental discoveries and position NSW as a leader for cardiovascular research through a series of grants.
